Getting engaged is one of the most exciting times of your life, but with all the wedding planning that comes afterwards, it can also be one of the most stressful. One of the biggest decisions you’ll have to make is when to buy your wedding rings. In this post, we’ll explore some important factors you should consider to help make the process a little easier.
Your wedding rings are arguably one of the most important aspects of your wedding day. After all, they are the physical thing you’ll carry with you from your wedding day and through all of life’s adventures! With that being said, it’s paramount that you give yourself plenty of time to browse, find what you like and budget accordingly.
When it comes to choosing your wedding rings, the most important bit of advice is don’t leave them until the last minute!
Consider Your Budget
Budgeting to buy a wedding ring can be a daunting task, but it is important to remember that there are many options available at varying price points.
To start, it’s important to set a realistic budget that aligns with your financial situation. Consider factors such as your income, expenses, and any other financial obligations you may have. Once you’ve had a browse at what styles, metals and designs you like and whether you’d like to add extra details such as engravings and stones to your rings, you’ll hopefully have more of a ballpark idea of the price range you’re looking at. Generally, high-street brands offer competitive prices but with little to no wriggle room to tailor them to you and your budget. Here at CAST, our prices are relative to the piece you design which gives you control of your budget.
It is essential that you set a realistic budget that you are both comfortable with. Depending on the size of your budget and personal finances, will impact the length of time you’ll need to save (or not), before buying your wedding rings.

Your Style
We’d recommend either buying or designing and creating your own wedding rings within the year you get married. Engagement time periods can range in time and within that time, your style can change. What you liked a few years ago may not still apply now. Whilst there’s no right or wrong with this one, creating your rings in the same year you get married is a great time to do so because you’re edging closer to the big day and have hopefully had plenty of time to think about the design and style you like. Plus, it’s one of the most exciting aspects of wedding planning. Check out our Pinterest page for all things wedding inspo!

Your Wedding Date
The date of your wedding is an important consideration when it comes to choosing, your wedding rings. Whether you’re buying off the shelf or making your own, ideally, your rings should be ready to wear two or three weeks before your wedding day. This gives you enough time to inspect them, ensure they fit perfectly, and make any necessary adjustments. After all, they’ll be with you for life so you want to make sure they’re perfect for you!
If opting to make your wedding rings (which we would absolutely recommend), the production time can vary depending on the complexity of the design and materials used. If your design is bespoke with lots of extras, such as adding dazzling stones and engravings, these can all contribute to a longer production timeline. It’s important to factor this production time in when deciding to make your own one-of-a-kind rings. Although we’re biased, we think making your wedding rings is the BEST decision you’ll make and a total no brainer! Why not check out our blog post on Five Reasons You Should Make Your Wedding Rings?
